*ROBERT STANDISH SIEVIER (1860-1939) was a bookmaker and owner of racehorses. He emigrated to Australia and was one of the first bookmakers to work on the courses. Returning to England in 1887, he founded 'The Winning Post' as a newspaper but in a libel case in 1920, was found to have used it as an instrument for blackmail.
