*JAMES WILSON [1795-1856], Scottish zoologist, one of the first to use the term 'evolution' in his paper 'On the Origin and Natural History of Domestic Animals', 1830, Quarterly Journal of Agriculture. However, he subsequently embraced creationism rather than Darwinian speciation.
