With a printed form for membership of the Magdalene College Association loosely added. Original printed wrappers, very faint fold lines to the top corners of the text. otherwise a very good copy.

pp. (xii), 51, (i). Frontispiece and 2 plates. Original patterned paper boards with spine browned with age, uncut, a very good copy signed and dated by Benson, with the book-plate of REGINALD W. GROOM and an autograph letter from Benson to Groom, from Lamb House, Rye, Sussex, Jan.1st. 1924 - 'I have signed both the copies - but I don't feel equal to any introductory remarks ! I think the blank pages are designed for you. I am settled here in a house which I have taken on lease with my brother. It belonged to Henry James the novelist & still has all his books pictures and furniture. Oddly enough I stayed with him here nearly 25 years ago, little thinking I should ever come to live here. There is a noble Church here & a beautiful service - the Vicar, Canon Fowler, is a great friend of mine. All best wishes very sincerely yours Arthur C. Benson.'

*Arthur Christopher Benson, FRSL (24 April 1862 17 June 1925) English essayist, poet, author and academic and the 28th Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge. He is noted for having written the words of the song "Land of Hope and Glory". The added Retrospect pamphlet appears to be very scarce - no copy on JISC[COPAC].
