*SOTHERAN I #4778 - 'A rare and valuable work.... Taylor was also author of the largest sexagesimal tables ever issued, published by order of the Commissioners of Longitude.' This set of Tables was published by subscription and contains the list of 350 subscribers including WILLIAM HERSCHEL, JOSEPH BANKS, MR. HARRISON ; on account of its great size, it never came into general use. See also ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA - 'The next great advance on Vlacq's 'Trigonometria artificalis' took place more than a century and a half afterwards, when Michael Taylor [1756-1789] published in 1792 his seven decimal tables of log sines and tangents.......'.
