Contemporary calf and new spine, original free end-papers with the name of WILLIAM TATTON, 1671 [possibly William Tatton (1659–1736) a career soldier in the British Army who rose to the rank of Lieutenant-General], the very scarce half-title, all laid down on tissue, title with fore-edge repaired with slight loss only just affecting the ruled border at the lower corner, pages 5-6 torn with much loss, retained and added with a facsimile, occasional marginal damp-marking, some corners repaired, the famous Durer-derived full-page image of the rhinoceros with loss of the fore-edge margin not affecting the woodcut, overall a clean and attractive copy carefully refurbished, EX-LIBRIS RICHARD FREEMAN, Darwin scholar and bibliographer with his notes on the front end-paper.
