Folding coloured map showing the racks of the 'Sunbeam' in 1874-5 and 1878, coloured folding map of Cyprus, frontispiece and 8 engraved plates, title vignette and 105 text woodcuts. Publisher's pictorial cloth covering both boards and spine, in red, black and gilt, designed by GUSTAV DORÉ, spine ends bruised, the frontispiece map with a tear in the fold repaired without loss and the fore-edge a little dusty and nicked at the edges, a little foxing at the ends, TOGETHER WITH an autograph letter signed, in pencil, from Annie Brassey to CAPTAIN PERROTT, undated, on headed paper - Normanhurst Court, Battle - an ink note initialled H.C.P[errott?] states - 'Refers to the death of my sister in January 1885', and another similarly initialled states - 'Recd. & Akd. Feby. 2, 1885', TOGETHER WITH another letter, from 'Sunbeam R.Y.S. off Bahamas, Dec.1st.1883', to CAPTAIN PERROTT - 'I am sure you will have been glad to hear from Mr. Potter of our success in establishing Centres and spreading information in the various places which we have visited. At Nassau we had a most enthusiastic meeting. Will you kindly send at once by book post at my expense to H. E. Sir Charles Freeling, Government House, Nassau, 3 dozen Ambulance cards, 3 dozen Esmarks triangular bandages with the pictures, one dozen Shepherds book and one dozen Princess Christians book .......................' This is written in a secretary's hand, Annie Brassey's writing is almost totally illegible. Both letters on a single sheet folded to four pages and signed by Annie Brassey.
