BURNE, John.
A Practical Treatise on Typhus or Adynamic Fever.

pp. xvi, 248. Original boards, paper spine label chipped, front free end-paper cut out, text block uncut, a very good copy.

*The fact that body lice were the vectors for typhus was not described until 1910 by Charles Nicolle. Prowazek described the species of Rickettsia bacterium that caused typhus in 1915, though Ricketts had proven that the eponymous bacterium was the cause of the Rocky Mountain Fever in 1906, and had been spread by wood-ticks. Both Prowazek and Ricketts died of typhus in the years of their publications, 1915 and 1910.
