pp. xii, 186, (ii) Advertisements. 6 engraved plates by JOHN STEWART and a number of stipple-engraved text figures, all after Bell's drawings including, at p.106 verso sub-title ESSAY VI, a full-page engraving. [COMPLETE with half-title and advertisement leaf, frequently missing, especially in a rebound copy]. Contemporary polished calf, the boards with broad blind-decorated inner border and double-gilt border to the outside, marbled edges and end-papers, the top corner of the front board bumped, book-plate removed from the front paste-down, occasional foxing, more particularly of the plates, with especially wide margins, possibly a large paper copy.
