Description:
pp. (viii) + 36 lithographed plates [signed W[illiam]. B[agg]. after watercolours by KEARNY and LEONARD, from the collection of JOHN SCOTT] with hand-colouring, guard leaf and accompanying text leaf + pp. (ii) Conclusion. Contemporary morocco gilt, rebacked, all edges gilt, book-plate of WILLIAM EDMUND IMAGE FRCS, a tiny library stamp on each free end-paper, a little foxing of the blanks at the ends of the book, otherwise a clean and bright copy.

*Very scarce and described by COLLINS History of Moorfields Hospital - '.....no illustrations of eye diseases ever surpassed or even equalled those in this Atlas............... The cost of production was nearly fifteen hundred pounds....'. COPAC records a number of copies in UK libraries but it is not listed in the catalogue of the BRITISH OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY. It was preceded by his 'Anatomy of the Human Eye', 1834 - the first English work on ocular anatomy [GARRISON-MORTON #1497].
