*GARRISON-MORTON #1863; HEIRS OF HIPPOCRATES #971 - 'Bernard's scientific methods were applied to good effect to the area of toxicology. This series of lectures covers, among other subjects, the actions of poisons on the body, the physiology of toxic absorption, and the nature of toxic gases.' The first Lecture was, however, devoted to a eulogy on François Magendie, who died in 1855.
