Description:
pp. 1-372. 13 folding plates of geometrical figures. In contemporary calf, latterly rebacked, one gathering loose, corners worn, otherwise an excellent copy, signature of PROFR. MILLER on the front blank, and a pencil note 'Robert K. Miller educated at Glasgow College'.

*ROBERT KALLEY MILLER [d.1888] graduated from Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1867 gaining the Smith's Prize in Mathematics; he had been a student under Lord Kelvin and stood in his place for one term when Kelvin was away ministering to his wife's illness. He later became Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich from 1873 to 1884. He was the author of 'The Romance of Astronomy', 1873. This note-book is written throughout in the most careful and beautiful hand, as much a work of art as a text.
