The Astronomical Calculations Have Been Made Expressly for the Canadian Almanac, for the Meridians of Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Fredericton, N.B., and Halifax, N.S.; to Which are Added, Full particulars of the Solar Eclipse of the 5th March, 1848, for St. John, N.B., Kingston, U.C., and for Various Places in the United States. The Calculations of other Eclipses are given for the principal places in British North America. PLUS same for 1849-1850-1851-1852.

In contemporary half calf and marbled boards, the first two maps misfolded and creased and torn at attachment and fold without loss, early signature of THOMAS C. *The issues for 1850 and 1851 have the imprint for Scobie alone. It is probable that the early owner, Thomas C. Orchard was the mine-owner in the UK Midlands in the 1860s - see : Extracts from the Diary of Thomas C. Orchard (Mine Owner) in shropshirehistory -1857diarythomasorchard.
