Description:
pp. (xii). 4 chromolithographs and 4 text illustrations. Original cloth-backed glazed boards, each with chromolithographed illustrations, the front cover a repeat of one of the internal figures, the back cover an advertisement for Goodwin's IVY SOAP, free end-papers now genuinely free, contents stapled and now loose, browned and occasionally marked in the margins, a good working copy of an ephemeral item.
*A juvenile puff for Goodwin's Ivy Soap, 'It Floats- Just the Soap for Your Bath'. No record of this title on COPAC, nor for any of the Goodwin's Toy Books, though a couple of other Goodwin productions are recorded. The Ivy Soap Works in Salford, Manchester were built for Charles Goodwin in 1874 and were taken over by Colgate Palmolive-Peet in 1938. A pretty production and obviously scarce.
