GOODWIN, G. W. & SON.
Reflections. Goodwin's Ivy Toy Books No. 14.

Description:
pp. (xii). 4 chromolithographs and 4 text illustrations. Original cloth-backed glazed boards, each with chromolithographed illustrations, the front cover a repeat of one of the internal figures, the back cover an advertisement for Goodwin's IVY SOAP, free end-papers now genuinely free, the front one with top corner torn with loss, contents stapled and now loose, browned and occasionally marked in the margins, a good working copy of an ephemeral item.

*A juvenile puff for Goodwin's Ivy Soap, 'It Floats- Just the Soap for Your Bath'. No record of this title on COPAC, nor for any of the Goodwin's Toy Books, though a couple of other Goodwin productions are recorded. Two of the chromolithographs are initialled 'H.J'. The Ivy Soap Works in Salford, Manchester were built for Charles Goodwin in 1874 and were taken over by Colgate Palmolive-Peet in 1938. A pretty production and obviously scarce.
