Oatmeal coloured cloth decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, uncut, the title printed in red and black within a grey border, occcasional marginal foxing but one leaf oddly and heavily foxed, decorated end-papers, the rear free end-paper with a short marginal tear, rear joint repaired.

*COPAC records the BL of this date, the first issue of this edition, but with the imprint at a different address - 95 New Bond Street. This, BL, issue also has a coloured onlay on the front cover, the text is printed within grey ruled borders and the cloth is green. The above issue does not have the front cover onlay, the text is printed within red decorative panels and the cloth is an oatmeal brown.
