*The firm of Tetley's Tea was first established in 1837 by the Tetley brothers, Joseph and Edward. Their first business enterprise had begun in 1822, when they started to sell salt from a pack horse in Yorkshire. In 1856 they relocated to London, establishing themselves as 'Joseph Tetley & Company, Wholesale Tea Dealers'. Today the company is owned by India's Tata Group, having been bought out in the year 2000, and is the second largest tea company by volume in the USA. The above advertising brochure relates to the firm's US enterprise in 1904.
