Original cloth rebacked with leather spine label, sides now much faded, portrait and plate foxed, occasional marginal foxing, two leaves once protruding now with dusty edges at top and side, contemporary signature on the front paste-down and on the title - ELIZA ANNE MADOCKS, TREGUNTER, 1831 - with book-plate of JOHN WEBB ROCHE.

*The ROCHE family had an estate in Tregunter, Brecknockshire. The Estate papers are held by the National Library of Wales. Eliza Anne was the daughter of Samuel Hughes of Tregunter, Talgarth, and married twice, her second husband being WILLIAM ALEXANDER MADOCKS. Her daughter, also Eliza Anne, married John Webb Roche.
