*The frontispiece of McClean is by the UNITED ASSOCIATION OF PHOTOGRAPHY LIMITED, 213 Regent Street, [London]. It is described as a WOTHLYTYPE. In this rare variant technique, arrow-root was used to size the paper. GERNSHEIM # 267 records the four volumes published in this annual series, 1863 to 1866.
