TOGETHER WITH: 2 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS from TWEEDY - the first from his address in Harley Street, 1892, to an unknown recipient, noting an overlooked misprint in the obituary notice above; the second, also from Harley Street and to an unknown correspondent, 1881, concerns Tweedy's efforts to secure a pension for Jones, and noting that as he is in consideration for Jones's post at UCL is cautious about attracting censure for vested interest. TOGETHER WITH: 2 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS from THOMAS HENRY HUXLEY, both 1881, one to R. M. KERR and the other to WHARTON JONES, both dealing with the setting up of a pension fund for the latter. Half black morocco, much rubbed, joints intact and contents very good, most of the autograph material and the obit notice laid in.

*WHARTON JONES (1808-1891), ophthalmic surgeon and physiologist, born at St. Andrews and educated in Stirling, Dalmeny and Musselburgh, graduated from Edinburgh University in medicine, thence to Glasgow and in 1835 to Cork where he practiced for a while before going to London and taking the chair in Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery at University College, held from 1851 to 1881, when he retired to Ventnor, IoW.
