*EVAN BEDFORD CATALOGUE #484 - BILLING [1791-1881], FRS and Physician to the London Hospital, was one of the first to introduce Laennec-type auscultation into the medical curriculum; he was especially interested in diseases of the chest and supported the view that heart sounds originated in the valves rather than in the muscles. He was one of the last physicians to visit his patients on horseback.
