AND

Die Anatomie der menschlichen Rückenmarks-Nerven für Studirende und Ärzte.

pp. IV, 63, (i). 13 plates (1 folding); (ii), 42. 16 of 17 plates (6 folding). With one [1870] general title and separate titles to each work. Contemporary half morocco, backstrip dry and worn and split along one side, stitching strained, one text leaf with old repair in the margin without loss, text and plates clean, lacking plate 16 in part II, the female genitalia, frequently censored from anatomical atlases, name stamp of PROF. E. GAUPP.

*The fine plates are engraved on steel by MEERMANN & BRUCH, after photographs. The general title calls for 37 plates - the title to the first part calls for 14 plates but only 13 were issued. Likewise, the title for the second part calls for 23 plates - it would appear that only 17 were issued [the Chicago copy listed in RLIN has 17 plates also]. Both series have the number of figures called for. There is a separately paginated text to part one, the explanatory leaves to the plates being unnumbered; part two has no separate text but the explanatory leaves are numbered [the Chicago copy appears to be identical in this respect also].
