pp. (iv), iv, 363, (i). Contemporary calf, rubbed along the spine and edges of the boards, some contemporary marginal notes at the front of the book, a good copy.

*First issued within Dodsley's Preceptor in 1748 and then published separately in the same year. Duncan (1717-1760) became professor of philosophy at Marischal College, Aberdeen in 1852, having graduated from there in 1737. The above was his only publication in philosophy but it was extremely popular and reprinted many times. None the less, COPAC records only 4 locations for this edition; ESTC adds three more.
