*An original coloured lithograph from 'Vanity Fair' by SPY [Leslie Ward]. Born in the Cape Colony, made his fortune in mining, served as war correspondent for The Standard newspaper in the Boer War, MP in 1910 till 1918 and lived at Trefusis House, Falmouth, Cornwall until 1929.
