pp. (iv), 445, (v). 4 folding engraved plates. Contemporary tan calf, rebacked and repaired, plates duststained at the top- and fore-edges, occasional neat stamp of the INNER TEMPLE LIBRARY, signature of F[RANCIS] MASERES 1756. A very good copy.

Also contains a Memoir, pp. 424 to 445, 'La Théorie du Mouvement des Comètes', presented to the Académie des Sciences in 1747, updated to include an analysis of the orbit of the comet of 1748. No copy in COPAC which records one location only for the re-issue of 1753 - NATIONAL LIBRARY OF SCOTLAND. FRANCIS MASERES [17 31 19 May 1824) was an English lawyer. He is known as attorney general of the Province of Quebec, judge, mathematician, historian, member of the Royal Society, and cursitor baron of the exchequer.[1]
