Description:
I : pp. (ii), vi, 1 plate, sub-title with vignette, 1 plate, 107, (i) blank, 6 plates, (109)-179, (i), 16 plates, 26 Annual Report of the EDA Society [with List of Members]. Most plates engraved by J. H. LE KEUX, 2 by J. TINGLE, 1 by O. JEWITT. II : pp. (ii), vii, (i), 180, 15, (i) Fourth Annual Report, 13, (iii), 3, (i) Fifth Annual Report. 26 plates [9 chromolithographs, of which 5 are folding, 17 engraved plates by LE KEUX and G. B. SMITH, of which 2 are folding], numerous text vignettes. III : pp. (vi), 65, (i), 275, (iii). 38 plates [2 lithographed in sepia on yellow paper, 20 chromolithographs by SPREAT and RISDON (4 folding, some with gilt ), the remainder engraved by LE KEUX, UTTING and JEWITT (1 folding)]. Numerous text vignettes. IV : pp. vi, 366. 22 plates [1 folding and engraved by LE KEUX, the remainder lithographed by SPREAT and DAY & SON (4 folding, in colour with gilded highlights)]. V : pp. vi, 222. 29 plates [1 folding chromolithograph by DAY & SON, the remainder lithographed by SPREAT, 1 of which handcoloured]. With a few engraved text vignettes. This, 1st. series, is lacking v.VI for completion. 2nd. Series in 5 volumes (15 parts) - all with many plates, details on request. Volumes I to V in half morocco and marbled boards, now rubbed, worn and snagged at edges and corners, all joints firm, some of the plates with old and faded dampmarking in some margins, some are foxed, many are unaffected, the first four volumes with the book-plates of the architect SILVANUS TREVAIL [1851-1903], the five volumes of the 2nd.Series in 15 parts, all in stiff paper boards [apart from the Index to part III in wrappers], two front boards and one rear board detached, one front cover grubby and marked, otherwise all in bright condition, occasional plate foxed else clean, altogether a good run of a very scarce series.

*A vast repository of fact about the church architecture of Devon and Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and Gloucestershire; the detailed plates show mouldings, effigies, seat ends, tiles etc., and external views of the buildings, with coloured plates of stained glass.
