pp. 332, (iv) Contents. Portrait, engraved title and text illustrations; vii, (i), 343, (i). Frontispiece, engraved title, folding plate of Shenstone's gardens at the Leasowes, engraved vignettes. Contemporary full polished calf, spine with raised bands and gilt compartments, twin labels, light wear to corners and edges at points, front external joints beginning to crack, one gathering in v.2 loose, scattered marginal foxing, fine engraved book-plates of CHARLES EVE (?Canterbury), a pretty set in good order.

*The description of the Leasowes, Halesowen, West Midlands, was written by Robert Dodsley, a close friend of Shenstone. In 1745, Shenstone inherited the estate and retired there, spending the remainder of his life, eighteen years, in beautifying the property. He was amongst the earliest practitioners of landscape gardening, impoverishing himself in his innovations at the Leasowes.
