Publisher's brown cloth, decorated in black, red and gilt, spine ends bruised, the edges a bit rubbed and some joints a bit weak, 6 leaves in v. 2 with an old brown patch in the centre fading away towards each end, overall a nice set.

*At the end of vol.1 is the extensive - 'JUBILEE CHRONICLE of the Newcastle Exhibition, Being a Reprint of the Newcastle Daily Chronicle's Report of the Proceedings at the Opening of the Exhibition, With Descriptions of Its Contents. And Special Contributions on its Principal Sections by Eminent Experts.' The final, 16-page, section to vol.5, is the Epilogue, describing the Contributor's Gathering at the offices of the Chronicle. This is accompanied by a multiple-image photograph of the contributors and a full-page copy engraving of the Editor's invitation to the contributors. There is a list of contributors who attended the meeting and a full, identifying list of the 236 portraits in the photograph, each with their pseudonym where appropriate. There is an Index to each volume, and v.5 has the General Index to all five volumes.
