WHITE, Lieut. George Francis.
Views in India, Chiefly Among the Himalaya Mountains. Edited by EMMA ROBERTS.

Description:
pp. x, (11)-94. Frontispiece, additional engraved title and 35 steel-engraved plates. Contemporary maroon calf gilt, scuffed, rubbed and marked, sometime rebacked with a portion of the old spine relaid, the joints taped, engraved title with a couple of damp-marks at the lower margin, most of the plates with some marginal foxing, occasional marginal dust mark.

*COPAC states presumed to be a reprint [1845] with new material on pp. 85-94 with accompanying plates. However, all the plates are dated 1838, though the editions of that date have fewer plates. Another entry on COPAC records an edition of 1845 dated from the engraved title. That engraving in the book offered here is, like the others in the book, dated 1838. PREFACE - 'The Publishers have spared neither pains nor cost in the Engravings, which have been got up at a vast expense (£2400), from Drawings executed on the spot by an enterprising and accomplished traveller.'
